Top 10 Ways To Smell Amazing Without Fragrance
You’re not a fragrance guy… we can respect that, but it doesn’t mean you can’t, and shouldn’t, smell amazing. If spritzing on the cologne isn’t for you, here’s our top ten things you can do to smell Bueno without using a fragrance.
1. Body Wash
Body washes aren’t overpowering, but they will give your skin a nice, subtle scent. Unlike cologne, people will have to get a little close to notice, but that’s not always a bad thing. A great body wash also keeps your skin clean, healthy, and moisturized. If you’re not sure how to use it, check out our step by step guide, and get that skin looking and smelling amazing.
2. Deodorant
This one should be a given, yet we can’t exclude it. Wear deodorant! A scented deodorant will also give you a subtle, but not overpowering scent. Even an unscented deodorant will cover up any unpleasant smells your body may produce throughout the day. Look for something aluminum free and apply daily. Bonus tip: Put your deodorant on after you put your shirt on to avoid any unwanted stains on that fresh tee.
3. Shampoo And Conditioner
Your hair, just like your body, can trap unpleasant odors. For those of us who tend to wear hats a lot, this one is especially important. A high-quality shampoo and conditioner will not only keep your hair healthy and looking great, but will also keep it smelling great too.
4. Brush Your Teeth
Make sure you’re brushing and flossing three times a day. It’s not only important to keep your teeth healthy, but keep that breath fresh. Coffee breath in the morning, onions on your sandwich at lunch, garlic pasta for dinner, you get the point. Keep it fresh, keep it clean, brush three times a day. It’s not a bad idea to carry around a pack of gum for those emergency situations either, and a travel size bottle of mouth wash in the car will inevitably come in handy at some point.
5. Powder The Boys
It’s no secret this region is prone to moisture. We’ll leave it at that. Bottom line here is powder up. Premium powder not only provides protection from chaffing, but also eliminates sweat, odor, and bacteria, giving you that fresh out of the shower feeling all day long. Make sure to find a product that doesn’t contain talc, aluminum, parabens, or menthol. It’s important to use only the best products on such a delicate area.
6. Aftershave
Eau Fraiche, or aftershave, is indeed technically scents. However, these are extremely mild, having concentrations of only 1-3%, and are typically the manliest scents available. Unlike cologne, and much more like a body wash, people will have to get pretty close to notice. Again, not always a bad thing.
7. Beard Balm And Oil
If you have a beard, don’t neglect it. It too is susceptible to trapping odors. A great beard balm or oil will make sure your beard not only looks and feels amazing, but doesn’t smell like the cup of soup you ate for lunch. Oil the beard and make sure it smells amazing.
8. Clean Clothes
Raise your hand if you’ve ever done the smell test on a pair of dirty clothes. Yeah us too. While acceptable in emergency situations, its best to make sure your clothes are clean. Smelly clothes are a sure-fire way to make sure you don’t smell Bueno. Detergents and fabric softener will aid in removing the dirt and sweat left in your clothes after you wear them. If you want to kick it up a notch grab something scented to make sure your clothes stay smelling great until it’s time to wear them. Clean cotton, clean rain, etc. Anything with “clean” in the name you can’t go wrong with. Skip the smell test, know they’re clean.
9. Shoe And Foot Spray
Most guys neglect their feet. It’s time to put an end to that. Sometimes your feet stink, and even more likely, so do your shoes. A good foot deodorant will keep your feet from stinking. A good shoe spray will help remove odor and bacteria, giving you the confidence to kick your shoes off and relax in any situation.
10. Diet
Make sure you’re drinking enough water. Besides the essential functions of life water provides, it also dilutes unpleasant scents, like garlic, onions, and coffee breath. Also, be careful what you eat. Foods like chives, cheese, and asparagus are naturally more pungent, leading to more pungent odors permeating from your body. Like anything, just know your surroundings. Seabass and asparagus are great for a night at home, but when date night comes around, maybe just stick to a steak and salad.
Even though nothing takes the place of a great fragrance, we realize it’s not for everyone. If you’re one to ditch the spritz, make sure to follow these simple tips to make sure you stay smelling Bueno.
